Just a Question...
I would like to ask modern religion a question. If all I have to do is believe to be saved, can I just believe that a diet works and I will automatically lose weight?
Can I also believe that regular exercise is healthy, and--without doing anything physically--I will be healthy just because I believe?
James 2:28 states emphatically that faith without works is dead. Maybe that's why there's not much life in some of America's churches. It all ties in with the plan of salvation.
For three and a half years, Jesus laid the foundation for the early church.
* In Mark 1:15, he tied repent and believe together.
* In Mark 16:16, he said believe and be baptized.
* Matthew 28:19 states that this baptism must be in one singular name.
* Acts 4:12 tells us what name to be baptized into.
* John 3:18 tells us that if we don't believe in this name, this unbelief brings condemnation.
* In John 7:38, Jesus said that if we believe as the scripture has said, we will have a river of living water flowing in us. He also stated that this was the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
On the birthday of the church, all of these ingredients for salvation were put together when Peter said, "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost!" (Acts 2:38)
My next question to modern Christions would be the same asked by Paul in Acts 19:2, "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?"
If not, then let's go to Acts 2:38 and put some action to our belief!
Actions really do speak louder than words!
