WHOLE Family Ministries: Reaching the Entire Family

WHOLE Family Ministries is coming soon to Word Aflame Church. The program, an interactive bible study for the whole family, is in the process of being written and organized by Sister Torsy.

What Inspired This?

Recently, I had the privilege of cooking for the Men's Ministry Breakfast and, of course, hosted the Ladies' Luncheon. I noticed a marked different between the two ministries. While the ladies seemed to have little problem connecting and encouraging one another, even to the point that the meeting moved into prayer and ministry to the homeless of Lubbock, the men seemed burdened by the weight of the load they must fulfill as leaders of their homes.

Not only were the men deeply concerned with how to lead their families, but half of the husbands of the ladies from the Ladies Luncheon were missing. As we looked at the inconsistency in numbers between the two groups, we found that the needs of the men and the methods needed to reach them differed greatly from women.

But it wasn't just that which concerned us. We noticed that almost half the families in our congregation were either single parent homes or only one parent was in church while the other was pulling in the other direction.

Our Goal 

Our goal through the WHOLE Family Ministries Bible program is to reach the other half--while also ministering to those within the church!

From moms and dads, to newlyweds, to children, to teens, and even to those widowed, we are developing a course on biblical relationships and how to live for God at each level.
