Still in the Dark
"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem saying, where is he that is born King of the Jews?" (Matthew 2:1-2). The Bible speaks of men who were called "wise." While their names are not given, their intent and purpose are.
They came to find Jesus and worship Him!
When Jesus was born, He was scarcely noticed by most people. The first who took notice of Christ after His birth were the shepherds, as we see in Luke 2:15. After that, it was Simeon and Anna in the temple who spoke of Him by the Spirit (Luke 2:38).
Now, one would think that both Jerusalem and Judea would have embraced Jesus as their awaited Messiah. But it appears that for nearly two years, no further notice was taken of him until these Wise Men came. FOR CENTURIES Israel had looked for the coming of their King, and now even in their midst, He goes unnoticed.
Note: They had the scriptures. They knew the prophecies of His coming. They were notified of His birth. They had both angels and a star that appeared! AND YET Jesus went unnoticed by the people!
When the Wise Men from the east came to Jerusalem, their question was "Where is He that is born King of the Jews?" They did not ask whether one was born as such, for they were sure of it! But they asked, "Where is He born?" They expected to see all of Jerusalem worshipping at the feet of this new King! But they were forced to go door to door with this question, finding no man who could tell them or give them an answer.
There is more gross ignorance in the world, and yes, even in the Church, than we are aware of! Many today that we think should be able to direct us to Christ are themselves strangers to Him.
Have you noticed Him lately?
Jesus is not only born but He is here!
Be not swept into the great famine for the Word...
Don't be one of the ones who forgets Him days without number...
Take notice!
