Called Unto His Purpose So No Worries!
Furthermore, his love for children and his creativity lead to the building of Disneyland as well as Disney World, two parks that my husband and I cannot get enough of!
So many times, it is easy to look at someone so accomplished and feel that you could never quite reach such a height. However, it wasn’t always roses for Walt either!
In fact, one of his first jobs was at the Kansas City Star newspaper. After several months, the management terminated Walt’s employment, stating that he lacked the creativity they desired in their writers!
Did Walt give up his dreams? Hardly! It just made him work that much harder because he knew who he was and that he had it! Later in life, after he had completed the first theme park and made a fortune in cartoon shorts as well as feature films, Disney returned to the Kansas City Star…as its new owner!
So often, we find ourselves in the same shoes as this great animator.
For many of us, God has not only saved us from sin but He has invested Himself in us! He has called us as witnesses and each of us has his or her own field of harvest.
As a youth, I always had a tender heart toward the Lord. And He indeed spoke to me through His Word, through prayer, and through the ministers in my life. God had called me to some wonderful things. As life has progressed, however, those dreams—or rather callings—can seem further and further out of reach thanks to the day-to-day sludge we endure on the job or in circumstances we cannot control.
Furthermore, our coworkers, neighbors, and even family members—both spiritual and physical—can treat us in such a way that we begin to doubt who we are in God.
But we must remember that we are God’s creation and He has a purpose for us. It’s not about our abilities or talents, but rather the doors that God will open for us through our submission to His calling, His Will, and His way!
Ephesians 2:10 says, “10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's” (1 Cor 6:19-20).
If there appears to be a set-back in your life, be assured it is not a failure! If the door to your current job has closed, God has a different door He wants you to walk through because His plan for your life necessitates that change in direction! There are no failures if you’re walking His path!
There are no setbacks, no wrong turns, and no mistakes if you are submitted to His will…even if you lose your job, lose a loved one, or love your home. Romans 8:28 tells us, ”all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” As long as we are called of God, all of these things are in His plan and are not reasons for stress , doubt, or fear!
For this reason, 1 Corinthians 7:23 instructs us, “Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” Essentially, we are not to be people-pleasers to save our jobs or homes; we are to be God pleasers and He will take care of it!
Consider these passages of scripture:
We are not to fear what man can do unto us but rather fear God who indeed has the power of life, death, and eternity. If we are pleasing God, all else will fall into place!
Proverbs 16:7 says, “When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
Matthew 6:33 tells us, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Psalm 118:6 says, “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”
Consider 2 Timothy 1:8-9 as well: “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.”
We are His workmanship…and God didn’t create junk!
Although I am not a follower of Mother Teresa, I have found this poem attributed to her to be a wonderful encouragement:
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
