Blessing Through Obedience to the Word and His Calling

Summer 2014 has been quite a season! For Word Aflame Church, the messages have all seemed to strike a common cord. Actually, this theme has been building over time. The message is simply this: Obey and I will bless! Answer the calling and I will bless!

On Father's Day, pastor preached "For the Sake of the Father." The basic tenet of the message was that children are often blessed based on the faithfulness of the fathers. Because mama and daddy lived for God, their children enjoy blessings based on that obedience. It's a biblical trend that continues today.

On the 4th of July, pastor preached about the reason why America is still blessed...once again, we can look to our forefathers. Their godliness has extended the blessings of God to the third and fourth generation. It makes us think, however, what kind of heritage are we setting up for our children and grandchildren? Is our lifestyle going to negatively affect them down the road? Blessing is directly tied to faithfulness.

Then, this month we heard Walk As Children Before God which once again revealed obedience as the precursor to assurance. Assurance of salvation comes from following God's plan involving repentance, baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. Assurance that God is in control of your life comes from faithfulness, honesty, and obedience of God's Word, thereby being of good report before God and man. The message even discusses how to still or calm the wrath of God. If you missed it, catch up on the podcast!

Rev. Vernon Osborne, our District Secretary, visited in August and brought a beautiful message about God choosing us, Remember, I Chose You, followed by a second part entitled "He Chose Me So I Choose..." These are also available on the podcast!

If you attended the Back to School Rally this month, you heard Rev.Royer preach about the importance of our response to the calling of God. During song service, you were even encouraged that God can use the scraps of your life if you are a surrendered vessel!

This past Sunday brought another set of powerful messages: Who Will Wear the Mantle and If You Will Obey by Pastor Cruddas.

Once again, God seems to be saying to the congregation of Word Aflame that our revival, our survival, and even our livelihoods depend on what we do with the call of God on our lives! Those messages will soon be up on the podcast for you to enjoy!

Deuteronomy 28: 1-14
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.

8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.

10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Let's listen to the words of the Lord and obey God's Word! Over the course of this summer, already five members of the church have received promotions, two have received homes, and powerful healings are taking place! Let's get a hold of this teaching and start reaping in the season of harvest!

Keep posted! We'll have some quick messages at the Men's Breakfast and Ladies' Luncheon this Saturday as well as a dynamic Youth Service on Wednesday, August 27th! Brother Trent Cruddas will be teaching! Check out a snippet of his last message on our Youtube channel: It's All In Your Head!
